Since installing Firefox 56.0.2 recently I have repeatedly experienced slowdowns or complete failure to load. Error message reads: "The intruction at 0x….. referenced memory at 0x00000000… The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program."

I appreciate that there is a long history of complaints about this problem, and suggestions offered to remedy it. None of them work for me.

I cannot avoid the problem by opening Firefox in Safe Mode. Several times I have uninstalled Firefox several times, made sure to download the appropriate version for my system (Win 7, 64-bit), deleted Mozilla files in the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders and then attempted a Clean Reinstall. I have run anti-virus and malware checks without identifying anything. Also did a Windows System Restore without success. Still the problem continues, regardless (but does not affect Firefox on my Apple Mac). Cannot find any fresh suggestions online so I would much appreciate some help with this.
